MeetMe: Introducing One-Time-Use Rooms

We know that security and personal privacy are crucial when it comes to meetings. That's why we're excited to release a beta version of a new feature called one-time-use rooms.

What are one-time-use rooms?

Customers today have a Virtual Meeting Room (VMR) to host their meetings. These VMRs already come with several security features like the ability to lock meetings and set up PIN codes, but they use static room links. In other words, every meeting is scheduled in the same room, and anyone can join if they have that room link and the necessary permissions (if enabled). This can potentially cause issues if you have back-to-back meetings that go long or if the meeting covers confidential material and someone uninvited joins.

One-time-use-rooms have unique room links that vanish after the meeting. So, only those invited to a specific meeting can access that unique room and join the call. This new functionality builds on our existing security features to give you more control over how you secure your meetings.

It also strengthens our value proposition for companies in vertical markets like telehealth and legal, as well as prospective customers migrating from webconferencing applications like WebEx and GotoMeeting, both of whom frequently requested this feature.

How does it work?

When scheduling a new meeting with the My Meeting Video app, you'll be prompted to choose whether you want to create the meeting in a one-time-use room or in your permanent room. You can also save that choice as a default setting for all future meetings. The room information will automatically populate in the meeting invitation so your guests can join quickly and easily.

What else should I know?

This feature is available for Office 365 users with the My Meeting Video for Outlook plugin, and iOS/Android users with the My Meeting Video mobile app. It is scheduled to launch later this week, and you can find more information on the My Meeting Video Medium blog and the Videxio blog then. Please try it out and let us know what you think! You can email comments and suggestions to beta@videxio.com.

We're really excited about how one-time-use rooms can give customers even more control over their meetings, and if you have any questions at all, please don't hesitate to reach out.
