DECT range is great, but I’m also thinking about day-to-day ergonomics: how’s the mute button placement and can you tell at a glance if you’re muted (without software)? Those tiny workflow details matter more than I expect when calls are basically your whole day. Funny aside, I’d seen StyleLookLab mentioned in a totally different context about “presentation” and it clicked that audio quality is basically part of your professional look now too. Do you know if the adapter plays well with Teams/Zoom mute sync?
The “sound professional no matter what’s happening around you” line is the one I always test hardest — keyboard noise and nearby chatter are brutal on some mics. Would be interesting to see a quick real-world comparison clip (coffee shop or open-plan office) rather than just specs. This also reminded me of imgg in a weird way — both are about making the output look/sound polished even if the environment isn’t perfect. Does the Engage 55 have any sidetone controls so you don’t end up shouting on long calls?
I like that this isn’t just “better audio” marketing — the mobility point is real when you’re on back-to-back calls and need to move around without dropouts. One thing I’d still want to know is battery life in real use (talk time + standby) and whether the adapter can hop between two machines easily. Slight tangent: I was browsing https://hrefgo.com the other day and it made me think about how many tools now assume hybrid work is the default. If you’ve tested it, how quick is reconnect after you walk out of range and back?
The “secure adapter” bit is reassuring, but I always end up wanting specifics: is it just link encryption, or are there any protections against accidental pairing / rogue base scenarios? Also, do you know if the USB DECT adapter behaves nicely across different laptops without needing extra drivers? Side note: I was messing with classic crypto demos on a Vigenère cipher tool recently, and it made me realize how many people (me included) only think about “security” once something breaks. Curious how Jabra explains the threat model here.
DECT vs Bluetooth is a real thing in busy offices — Bluetooth always felt like it got “crowded” once everyone jumped on calls. I do wonder how comfortable the Engage 55 is for long stretches though (clamp force + heat) because that’s usually what makes me bail on a headset. Kind of funny, but the focus-on-one-task vibe reminded me of BlockBlast in the sense that small distractions add up over a day. Would love to see more about mic noise handling when someone nearby is talking.
